april flowers : open call for short films/videos
Deadline: 26/04/2024City: London | Country: United Kingdom | Rosie Reed Gold
'Keep It Under Your Hat' - a monthly night of music and poetry in East London is seeking short films!
'Keep It Under Your Hat' is a night of poetry and music hosted on the last Monday of every month in Biddle Bros in Clapton, London
Keen on building and expanding a creative community, we are focused on creating a safe space to share new work and foster collaborations.
Each night begins with a screening of projected films - we would like to share yours!
The title of this month's event is 'nearly', and we take inspiration from poet Wendy Cope's poem 'Flowers':
Some men never think of it.
You did. You’d come along
And say you’d nearly brought me flowers
But something had gone wrong.
The shop was closed. Or you had doubts —
The sort that minds like ours
Dream up incessantly. You thought
I might not want your flowers.
It made me smile and hug you then.
Now I can only smile.
But, look, the flowers you nearly brought
Have lasted all this while.
We are keen to see short film poems or artist films, or performative videos inspired by almost moments, things that nearly happened, or could have happened, or moments of overthinking, or beautiful remnants, or the temporary nature of flowers.
Films should be no longer than 7 minutes long.
Please do find us on Instagram @keep.it.under.your.hat if you'd like to join our community, and in case you might have something you think could work for a future night!
We look forward to seeing your submissions!
