Bookmarks 2017
Deadline: 19/02/2017Venue: Sculpture Court, Edinburgh College of Art | City: Edinburgh | Region: East Lothian | Country: United Kingdom | ECA Bookmarks
In its third year, BOOKMARKS will again provide a stimulating platform for visitors to explore artists’ books and zines made by practitioners from across Scotland. Exploring the artists’ book in its broadest sense, BOOKMARKS is a first stop for those interested in bookmaking as an artistic practice. Bookmarks will run this year on the 29th March, from 4-8 PM, with talks running earlier in the day. It is housed in the Sculpture Court, in Edinburgh College of Art's Main Building.
BOOKMARKS focuses on academic study, exploring how artists’ books are used, promoted and created in educational settings. Featured artists and designers will include students, staff and alumni from Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), alongside those from other educational institutions in Scotland. To coincide with BOOKMARKS, ECA student group The Grey People who explore the spaces and overlaps between art an design have curated an exhibition of artists’ books from the ECA collection that will be on show in ECA library.
BOOKMARKS starts with a symposium open to all participants and visitors where a wide range of speakers will make presentations detailing different aspects of the book through featured projects. Following this the fair will offer visitors the chance to see and handle the work, meet the artists and designers and purchase an exciting array of artists’ books and zines.
