We are excited to announce our first collective exhibition for 2016 will be ANIMALS running 1st July - 30th July.

Both 2D and 3D artists working in a range of medias are invited to submit 2-3 pieces to the exhibition within the topic of Animals to create our own menagerie that will coincide with Chesterfield Museums exhibition (9th July - 24th Sept).

Submissions are free and artists are welcomed to use this exhibition as a selling opportunity. West Studios ask for 30% +VAT commission on any sales made within the exhibition.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Work must be based on or contain an animal within it. 2D and 3D artists. Work in all medias are welcome to apply.

How much does it cost?
Submissions of work are free
What is the commission on work sold within the exhibition?
West Studios commission is 30% +VAT on any sales. Sold work is kept within the exhibition until the end, the artist will be notified and payment is made to the artist by BACs within 14 days after the exhibition finishes.
Is there a private view / opening?
Saturday 2nd July, participating artists are welcomed to the gallery as a 'Meet the Artists Morning' during the studios normal opening hours. However, this is not manditory.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
West Studios is open to the public Monday - Friday 9am-4:30pm and Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm

What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Advertising of the exhibition will be included within West Studios monthly newsletter and on all it's social media channels. As well as within any printed material which is distributed throughout Chesterfield town centre.

Artists are encouraged to share and publicise the event as well.
Do I need to be present?
No, the gallery is manned by the West Studios Team. Participating artists are welcome to come down to the studios on the first Saturday morning to see the finished exhibition as part of a 'Meet The Artist' morning, however this is not manditory.

What are the hanging and dislay systems used by West Studios?
West Studios use a picture rail and hook system to hang work within the gallery rooms. Each hook holds up to 40kg weight. This system is most effective using DRings and good quality string or wire, which isnt slack, on the back. Work is expected to be framed or on a canvas to help with hanging.
For 3D work, West Studios has 2-3 glass display cabinats and white plynths. Heavier work will be positioned on the floor, however artists will be consulted before pieces are delivered.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
A member of the West Studios team will email you to confirm which pieces have been selected, discuss hanging and display requirements as well as delivery details.
What insurance cover is there within the gallery exhibition?
Artists are asked to have Public Liability Insurance to cover their work whilst within the exhibition.
What is the selection criteria?
-Animals are included within the artwork
-If a 2D piece, there is an appropriate hanging system
-If a 3D piece, all entries encouraged, however will be based on room available but the artist will be contacted to be consulted
-The artist (or delegated friend/family) can deliver or collect the work themselves
