The Dean Clough Festive Art Fair is a showcase for Artists, Makers and Designers to promote and sell their work in one of the largest contemporary arts spaces in Yorkshire. The event will take place on 3 and 4 December 2016 at the Dean Clough Galleries and will be an opportunity to share in this collaborative marketing opportunity, showcasing emerging and established talent.

About Dean Clough

Dean Clough is a thriving, privately-owned business community of over 4,000 people in Halifax, Yorkshire. The 20-acre site was once the world's largest carpet factory. The high calibre of its regeneration and its arts programme is widely celebrated.

 

The Crossley Gallery is one of the largest contemporary arts spaces in Yorkshire. It provides a prime venue for group shows and for artist who paint on a large scale, or who are candidates for major retrospectives. The gallery has also been used for textile exhibitions and display installations. Dean Clough regularly devotes up to nine of its public spaces to a rolling programme of gallery exhibitions that typically reflect contemporary art practice in the North of England. 

 

Opening Times and Dates:

 

Saturday 3 December - Sunday 4 December 2016 10am-6pm

Preview Evening: Friday 2 December 5-7pm

 

Applying & Selection:

 

Individual and joint applications are welcome. Information about all artists applying to share a pitch will need to be submitted in one form.

Pitches are charged at £30 for a single day, or £50 to book for two days (subject to selection). Pitches include 1 trestle table (typically 4' x 2') and 1 chair. Larger trestle tables and pitches are negotiable.

 

Complete the submission form to apply and include the following: 

  • Full name and address
  • Business name (if applicable) 
  • Contact telephone number 
  • Email address
  • Website
  • Social Media names (if applicable) 
  • 3 images of merchandise
  • 1 photograph of a previous stall or an illustration of proposed stall
  • EHO evidence (if applicable)
  • Food hygiene certificates (if applicable)

Applications will be considered on quality, pricing and variety to ensure we avoid duplication of stalls. Dean Clough is not obliged to accept any applications submitted and will make every effort to take applicant preference into consideration but can make no guarantees. Applicants will be advised in writing (by email or letter) if they have been successful by 3 October 2016.

Once success is confirmed applicants will be sent a pack including marketing materials, details about the pitch, directions, parking information, get in and get out times, and contact details. Fees are payable in advance, within 15 days of receipt of invoice. Pitch fees are non-refundable.

 

Insurance/Indemnity 

The exhibitor should provide evidence of adequate public liability insurance. Exhibitors are liable for all claims arising from the conduct of their services/unit and shall indemnify Dean Clough against any third party claims arising as a result.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Artists and designer makers who would like the opportunity to promote and sell their work. It is less suitable for expensive works of art as the audience will be looking for Christmas presents and smaller portable objects. Artists who are emerging and established artists are welcome to apply.
When is the deadline?
30 October 2016
When is the get in date?
The get in will be on Friday 2nd December 2016. Get in times will be confirmed nearer the date.
When do I need to collect my work? When is the get out date?
Get out times will be available after closing on Sunday 4th December. On arrangement it may be possible to collect your work on Monday 5th December.
How much does it cost?
Pitches are £30 per day or £50 for two days booked together.
Are there commission payments to the organisers?
No there is no commission on items sold at the Fair. All profits belong to the artists.
Is there a private view / opening?
The will be a preview on Friday 2 December for residents of Dean Clough Mills. Exhibiting Artists are also welcome to invite guests to the preview. Times for the preview will be confirmed nearer the event date.
What are the opening hours?
10 am to 5pm Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December, 2016.
Does the location have disabled access?
Dean Clough Mills are fully accessible. It is advisable to inform The Content Managers of any access needs so that you can be fully supported during the Fair.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Dean Clough and The Content Managers will promote the event and provide publicity. We have kept the costs of the Fair to the minimum in return for supportive promotion of the event through the exhibiting artists own networks. The Content Managers will support artists in this.
Do I need to be present?
You will need to make sure your pitch is covered at all times while the event is open. Whilst this does not need to be the artist it does provide an enhanced experience for visitors to be able to meet and ask questions.
How do you decide on proposals?
Pitches will be allocated so that there is a variety of goods which compliment each other.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
We will inform you by email if your proposal is successful after the closing date.
