Derby based Artcore's Artist in Residence Opportunity (including bursary )
Deadline: 16/01/2017City: Derby | Region: Derbyshire | Country: United Kingdom | Sharlaine Fincham
Artcore is offering a 2-month Artist in Residence Opportunity for 2 artists at our gallery space in Derby. Artists will work in a shared space, enabling discussion, interaction and collaboration. Each artist will be given a bursary to develop a body of work and a mentor to guide them. The residency will end with a Bridge the Gap Artists in Residence Exhibition and launch event. Local and national marketing support will be provided by Artcore and e-catalogues will be produced to support the artist.
We welcome applicants working in any discipline. We are seeking proposals from visual, installation and digital artists, craft specialists (ceramic, textiles, metalwork, glass, etc.) to occupy Artcore Studios.
Derby Museum will host the launch event and exhibition for this second residency. They work closely and creatively with audiences and partners to find new ways to explore and present their collections. Their interpretive approach is open and experimental. It includes a sequence of changing interventional works placed in and amongst the historical objects. The aim is to delight and inspire visitors, enabling them to respond to the collections in new ways.
Derby Museums will work with the selected artist to design and make an interventional response to their collection or the museum itself, to investigate how they might utilise the hidden or unused spaces in and around the museum and reactivate them with intriguing artworks and untold stories. Creative practitioners from all disciplines are welcome to apply and are happy to explore how they might encourage new and unexpected perspectives of their collection. They are particularly interested in how we can amplify hidden stories to fully represent their diverse audience.
