**N.B. The deadline for applications has now past. Please only fill in an application at this stage if you have agreed to do so with the event organiser.** The Fruitmarket Gallery throws its annual design fair, in cahoots with our event partner Creative Edinburgh, filling the galleries with all manner of print, jewellery, fashion and homeware, and platforming design talent in talks and workshops you can try your hand in.

DesignMarket is held across two busy weekend days with an opening celebration on the Friday evening.  Over three thousand visitors came through the doors last year to see designers show across two floors of gallery. Stallholders reported good sales levels with many taking the opportunity to form ongoing sales relationships with buyers who attended the event.

There’s much local talent on show alongside representation of those who travel to take part in this increasingly prominent fair in the year’s design calendar.

We invite designers and design retailers to apply for a stall, which costs £160+VAT. Paying members of Creative Edinburgh are eligible for a discounted stall price £110+VAT.

If you have enquiries not answered by the FAQ section, then please get in touch through the CuratorSpace's contact curator option.

What are the financial prospects for participants?
Designers usually aim to make their money on the stalls, and we work hard to drive in good visitor numbers to make this possible. Feedback from 2016’s event was that DesignMarket provided good value for money. this year we are charging a little more to enable us to publicise the event even more widely.

The talks programme is free and often includes talks by stallholders using the opportunity to talk about their work and interest visitors in buying it.

We are open workshops being charged for, with the money being passed directly to the person running the workshop.
Can I attend for one day only?
Participants are present for both days, so that visitors know what they’re going to be able to see and buy. If you have a particular problem with either of the days but are keen to be involved, please contact us through the Contact Curator option.
Does the location have disabled access?
Yes, with flat entrance and lift access to the upper floor.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Participants will be listed on the printed poster and leaflet for the event. DesignMarket and its participants will also be promoted thought The Fruitmarket Gallery’s website and well-followed social media. A press release will be sent to relevant publications. An e-Flyer will be sent to the Gallery’s mailing list of 8000+ subscribers.
How do I pay for my stall?
Successful participants will be invoiced after confirmation of attendance, and payment is requested by bank transfer.
What is the selection criteria?
We are looking for interesting design work. We market the event as an opportunity to buy work, so usually people come expecting that. We have also hosted stalls of either free giveaways or work exhibited but not available for sale.
Is there wall space available?
Yes, wall space is provided. Please flag if you are hanging heavier items or would like help from our Technical Team.
