Call for Participants: Liverpool Book Art is excited to announce that the fourth Liverpool Artists' Book Fair will be held in the spectacular Liverpool Central Library on Saturday 8th July and Sunday 9th July 2017. There will be around 30 tables of artists' work for sale. Entry to the public will be free. Applications are invited from individual book artists; artist collectives & groups; small press publishers; bookbinders; colleges/universities; and specialist trade suppliers.

Liverpool Book Art is inviting submissions for tables for the 4th Liverpool Artists' Book Fair. We are excited that the fair will again be held at the fantastic Liverpool Central Library in the Discover area, located on the ground floor. Address: William Brown Street, Liverpool L3 8EW.

 

With around 30 tables available we are looking to showcase a diversity of approaches and artist practices, for sale at a range of prices. The price of a table for both days is £70 for artists; £100 for colleges/universities; £120 for trade/suppliers. Tables are 6ft x 2ft 3in (182x69 cm).

We are keen to offer demonstrations, workshops (for both children and adults), talks and performances during the course of the fair. Please e-mail us with your ideas and proposals.

 

We are not curating a complementary exhibition in 2017, but plan to do so again in 2018.

  • a brief description of yourself and your artistic practice - maximum 250 words
  • media used
  • an idea of the cost of your items

 

Images of your art:

 

  • Upload a maximum of 5 images
  • By uploading these images you give your permission for Liverpool Book Art to use them on our website, social media pages and in publicity for the fair.

How many works can I submit?
Please submit up to 5 images of your work (maximum 2 images per work).
By uploading these images you give your permission for Liverpool Book Art to use them on our website, social media pages and in publicity for the fair and exhibition.
How much does it cost?
The price of a table for both days of the Fair is: £70 for artists; £100 for colleges/universities; £120 trade/suppliers. Table dimensions: 6ft x 2ft 3in (182x69 cm).
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
We will contact you after the deadline to let you know if you have successfully secured a table and to request payment. We will aim to do this by the end of March.
What are the Fair opening hours?
Liverpool Central library is open Sat 09.00-17.00; Sunday 10.00-17.00. The Liverpool Artists’ Book Fair opening times are to be finalized with the management of the Library, but the Fair is likely to be open to the public on Saturday 10.00-17.00, and Sunday 10.30-16.30.
Display and Other Facilities
If you wish to bring anything else with you, such as free-standing displays boards, please let us know as part of your application. There is no scope for displaying items on the walls of the library. Please also let us know if you have any other requirements e.g. access to electrical sockets, and we will try to accommodate them.

The Library has a café which is open throughout the Library opening hours. There is also free wi-fi.
Sharing tables
Participants are welcome to apply for shared tables if they organise the sharing themselves. Booking of tables is for the two days. However, if you can only attend for one day, and can arrange for someone else to have the table for the other day, please apply on that basis (but we would want submission details from both participants). If you can only do one day, and don’t have someone to take the table for the other day, let us know, and we will see if we can find a solution.
Do I need to be present?
Yes. We do not have people available to staff a table on your behalf.
Does the location have disabled access?
The library has excellent disabled access. There are no steps between the entrance and the Fair location on the lower ground floor: access is via a spiral ramp or lift.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
The Fair will be publicised via B.A.N.; our own website and Facebook page; printed flyers distributed locally and at other artist book fairs; a press campaign; and Visit Liverpool, Liverpool City Council and Central Library websites.
Are there payments to artists?
Fees for workshops, performances and other complementary activities will be available.
Is there a private view / opening?
