Open call for art submissions on the theme of REBORN for a group exhibition to celebrate the reopening of our gallery and venue.

As we move through Spring 2021, emerging from a grim winter lockdown and into a strange new world, we want to capture the positive vibes of this unique moment in a group exhibition of visual art on the theme of: Reborn. Maybe you have work created during the pandemic or something that was done previously, or perhaps you would like to make new work in response to this theme – amateur or pro, either way we want to hear from you!

We invite submissions from local artists, and we are particularly interested to hear from young people and under-represented groups. All wall-based art forms welcome including digital art. This exhibition will act as the centrepiece of our town-centre venue reopening event in July and will run for 3 weeks.

The Hive will promote the exhibition online on our website and social media, and it will be featured in our next upcoming printed brochure. A free exhibition catalogue will be produced with images and info of all displayed artworks, and there may also be opportunities for exhibiting artists to host a talk or workshop to further engage the local community with their artistic ideas and practice.

Submission entry cost: Free

Deadline: Sunday 16th May 2021

To apply please send:

  • A good-quality image of the artwork you would like to submit
  • A short paragraph to explain how it responds to the theme of Reborn (max 250 words)
  • Link to your artist website or a few lines introducing yourself and your artistic practice
  • Artwork title
  • Artwork dimensions (height*length*width)
  • Medium/materials used
  • Year artwork was created
