Contemporary artists of all practices are invited to submit proposals to an exhibition responding to the theme of the environment.

This exhibition aims to blur the line between art and activism, highlight issues concerning the environment and raise awareness, through art, of the impact that pollution has on the world.

The theme is open to be interpreted; exploring the negative impacts or the positive solutions, perhaps focusing on air pollution or plastic pollution, the implications that pollution has on people,  communities, wildlife, or landscape. Are the materials used to create the work significant? Does your work continue beyond the gallery walls? Can the audience interact with your work? Does the work change over the duration of the exhibition?

The exhibition aims to highlight local and national artists who are environmentally-aware, contemporary and whose artwork is powerful in both its message and its aesthetic, looking into humanity's impact on the world on both local or international scales and the work itself should be environmentally-conscious; using sustainable/recycled materials wherever possible.

In addition to the artwork, I anticipate that the exhibition will also include pop-up events throughout; craftivism workshops, film screenings, a pop-up shop etc. Local green groups are also welcome to contribute ideas and promotion material for petitions and events.

PROPOSALS: 3-5 images of recent work, a link to a website/social media, and a statement outlining your proposed idea for this exhibition (at least 200 words, but no word limit)

The exhibition will be at Bath Artists’ Studios’ Roper Gallery, the dates for the exhibition are April 6th (opening night) until 18th. Successful artists will be asked to contribute £5 to contribute towards the marketing material/exhibition costs.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: March 20th

Successful artists will be contacted on March 22nd, work must be at Bath Artists’ Studios by April 2nd. Local collection can be arranged if you are unable to physically deliver the work yourself.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Anyone and everyone! However, please take into consideration how your work will be delivered. If you will be posting work, then you will need to be responsible for shipment costs both ways. How many works can I submit?
Submissions are dependant on scale. If you would like to submit more than one piece then please contact me to discuss this.

Anytime from March 22nd until April 5th.
When do I need to collect my work?
The exhibition will be taken down on the evening of April 18th so ideally then. If you are unable to collect work then, I will store work for you until a more convenient time but as soon as possible is preferable.
How much does it cost?
No fee to submit work, though successful artists will be asked to contribute £5 to cover the costs of promotional material/exhibition costs.
Is there a private view / opening?
Yes - April 6th will be the opening night. Times are yet to be confirmed but I imagine 6-8pm.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
Times are yet to be decided. Roughly 10:30am - 6:30pm on weekdays.
Do I need to be present?
It'd be great if successful artists could be at the opening night and also volunteer for at least a day of invigilating but these details will be discussed closer to the time.
