Open Call for film, video and spoken word (live) works
Atelier Public, Modern Edinburgh Film School, "The National Review of Live Art"
20 February - 27 May 2014
"The National Review of Live Art" employs discussion, film and the application of terms like duration, longevity, audience, site and stillness to explore the working relationships between moving image and live art. It works as a kind of “time machine” with a line drawn from the archives of Third Eye Centre and the CCA from 1990 to the present, channelling and invoking groups and generations of Glasgow-based artists exposed to the terminologies that meet, overlap or synchronize in film and performance. Staged like a play, with an open text of speech, screening and contribution, it explores language and event, and draws on a number of artists and selected works that generate a line between the live, the moving image, the counterpart, and senses of theatricality or spectacle.

An Event at Atelier Public, Gallery of Modern Art, February–May 2014
Modern Edinburgh Film School proposes a film, discussion, screening and performance event for its appearance at Atelier Public, a kind of archival and institutional substitution, a phrasing of one space and its memories onto the expression and ideas of another. Using ideas linking spaces and audiences, participation and selection, this event speculates on a line between live art and moving image, especially works that explore text and voice, bridged by discussion, conversation and the social.
