I am a freelance artist based in East Yorkshire. I initially studied Textile Design at Manchester. Following graduation I designed for a few years supplying to the furnishing industry. Since then I have devoted my time to painting, exhibiting locally and nationally. I have also completed a number of murals in child friendly settings such as schools, children's centres and neo natal wards.

I like to experiment with mixed media and work in a spontaneous way not quite knowing at the onset where a piece of work may lead me. I like to travel and use sketches and observations I have done whilst travelling to work from in the studio at home. Life drawing was a large part of the course at Manchester and I have continued to attend a life class on a weekly basis. The figure often infiltrates into my work , sometimes in an abstract form. I love colour, texture and pattern and enjoy using mixed media and my ultimate aim is to create harmonious interesting imagery.

I was asked to incorporate into the mural the history of the school and also present day status of the school. The mural was painted on board and erected at a later date.

Mural to outside play area

12/10/2015 to 16/10/2015

Using limited colours due to cost, I was asked to 'brighten up' the play area at a local primary school. I chose the colours of the school: red, black and white. The wall was an outside wall and therefore required cleaning and preparing before painting the design onto it. The school is in a very urban area so I chose to add some of the...
