Anne Fontenoy United Kingdom
Visual artist creating art often working with paper using pencil, oil pastel and ink. Special interest in flower art, hand cut stencils and digital art. Also painting on silk, making designs for hand embroidery, bead work and creator of hand sewn original ladies clothes. Silk specialist.
I trained in several commercial art and fashion studios before setting up my own sole trader practice. The work was varied including paste up for comics and teenage magazines, done by hand using Cow gum and Rotring pens, make up painted with oil paints onto display mannequins, making hand made belts and hand covered buttons for the couture houses without using machines, and working as a draughtswoman for NCR, drafting and pasting up complex forms as well as drawing pen and ink line drawings of computer and computer equipment for their manuals.
I started making patterns for clothes when I was a young teenager and started my practice because people asked me to design and make hand sewn clothes for them too. and in the first years of my practice as a designer dressmaker of hand sewn ladies clothes, for which I make all the dress patterns, I developed a range of hand made cards which I made from hand cut stencils, individually airbrushing each card alongside hand painted silk scarves and pochette bags. Whilst busy designing and making silk wedding dresses, evening dresses and classic ladies dresses, often creating unique embroidery or bead work designs to embellish them with, I also created artworks often working with pencil and oil pastels. Subjects include flowers in pencil and oil pastel, cats, mandalas, stencil pictures, and once I got to grips with computer technology I created a collection of Digital Art with some spiritual themes such as meditation and peace as well as flowers and some abstract and decorative images. At the moment I am adding fruit and veg, pencil on paper images to my portfolios.
