Kate Findlay Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

Kate is a professional artist working mainly in textiles. Her work references local landscape and wildlife in applique techniques. She also does commissions and corporate work, particularly making large art quilts and digital artwork incorporating fibre optic lighting.

Kate uses hand dyed fabrics, or hand painted and printed fabrics in her work. She "paints with fabric" to create modern stylised pieces with strong use of colour and composition. Work is machine stitched and hand embellished before being stretched over a board and professionally framed. Other work includes large scale art quilts often on a scientific theme (the Large Hadron Collider being one body of work) and also wall art that incorporates fibre optic lighting which changes colour, creating wonderful mood pieces suitable for a lower level lighting environment such as the home or hospices, spas and hotel rooms.
