Dianne Bowell is a full time studio based artist, living and working in Middlesbrough, her practice is painting based. Dianne describes her work as ephemeral feminine expressionism. She uses inks and water spray as a starting point for most paintings, this gives the work a transient beginning, and the work is built up in layers, the surface is just as important to Dianne as the subject. People and the folklores, myths and legends created by people in a bid to explain their own existence, mortality and possible immortality fascinate Dianne and bring an endless stream of fuel for her work. Dianne has been a professional artist for over 20 years, since graduating with a Ba Hons Degree in Fine Art and subsequently a Masters of Fine Art.
