Ellie Seymour Suffolk, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

An artist and Arts Educator, Ellie Seymour studied Fine Art Printmaking at The University of Brighton, and has since exhibited work throughout the UK including London, Cambridge and Oxford. She is currently based in Suffolk, responding to the landscape that surrounds her home studio, with personal experience and connection to the land at the core of her practice.

Journeying through and collecting from the land are integral to Ellie Seymour’s practice. Using found objects, organic materials and traditional printmaking methodology, Seymour investigates, celebrates and preserves lived experience of the land before it is lost to the creeping threat of inattention by an expanding, artificial global culture. Her work seeks to resurrect a connection between the viewer and nature and inspire a questioning of our modern relationship with the natural world. With the eastern philosophy wabi sabi at the core of her practice, she embraces the impermanent, imperfect and incomplete nature of life and endeavours to shine a light on the beauty of change, simplicity and ‘insignificance’.
