I begin everything in my sketch book. This ,in turn, can become a painting, collage or 3D glass interpretation. All media is respected for it's unique qualities and this dialogue can result in interesting and challenging new directions. I am lucky to have travelled east and west, all of which informs my open approach to each idea. Music and poetry have an important role in my practice.
Images, music, reading, listening, seeing , all begin my ideas. These are explored further in sketch books. The natural world is ever present, both in the minutiae of tiny objects or the wide expanse of sweeping landscapes and everything in between. Wild places or those influenced by human hand. Changes in weather, season add mood to ideas. I need to add movement to any piece I work on. Still quiet waters are not always for me.
