Serena Sutton West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
I’m originally from West Yorkshire; however, I’m currently in my third year studying for a BA Fine Arts degree in Manchester. I specialise in photography and painting. As an artist, I work to create paintings that are relatable to the everyday viewer.
I work with oil paint, and most of my work involves people; this is because my current practice focuses on the everyday and the overlooked. My current interest stems from the juxtaposition of curated social media and the reality of daily life. Watching and studying routines and other elements of the ‘everyday’ is where I get the majority of my inspiration for my creative process. I am constantly changing my approach to these ideas and creating different types of art however oil painting is my main focus at this time. I love to create paintings that are relatable to all types of viewers whether it be artists, collectors or just the average person wandering past. However, I am also developing my ideas into storytelling of my own life and how it may differ to another persons by creating art pieces surrounding the idea of invisible illnesses to spread awareness in a unconventional way.
