Tina Finch Lancashire, United Kingdom
I was born in Wigan, Lancashire, this unique northern, industrial urban place has had a profound influence on how I see aspects of life. I am interested in the juxta positioning of beauty, landscape and water especially canals and the sea. Intertwined amongst the beauty of landscape are the all-pervasive scourges of dereliction, pollution and deprivation.
The underlying theme of my work are the environmental issues of pollution which in its many forms threatens our heritage. In my work I use mixed media, collage, photography, printing and painting. I try to use recycled materials, old art materials, discarded plastic and paper as resources. Our Legacy to the next generation is to bequeath a pollution free world and reduce our environmental impact before it is too late…. I am Interested in impressionist style of working as impressionism underpins the style of the ‘Northern Art School’ as practiced by artists such as Valette, Geoffrey Key and Lowry.
