DRAWER was founded by Daniella Turbin, an artist-walker from the West Midlands. She has a Masters in Fine Art Practice from The Glasgow School of Art (2017) and her specialist field is drawing. Since leaving education she spent six months living in Cumbria, it was during this time that she began to take a serious interest in walking. Since completing her studies and returning to her roots in the West Midlands she has been on a mission to travel the UK on foot.

DRAWER is organiser and facilitator of walking and drawing activities around the UK. At a time when the UK was on the cusp of leaving the European Union, there was a prolonged and mixed feeling of public anxiety across the country and what felt like an overwhelming questioning of British-ness. It was somewhere around this time that she made a decision to start walking the UK, simply, to explore, meet and document the landscape and its inhabitants. These walks could be instigated for any number of reasons – from historical and political through to environmental or personal.
