A multi-disciplinary artist, public arts practitioner and researcher with a PhD in human geography
Youngsook is a multi-disciplinary artist of Korean heritage. Her subject of works lies in institutional abuse of human labour and nature, often through the lens of working-class women and migrants. Youngsook produced a series of works about female factory workers, provoking conversations around contemporary value system of human labour, including the commissioned project 'Equal Ride' revisiting the history of Dagenham Strike in 1968.
She also works as a public art practitioner and researcher, with a PhD in human geography. Her public art projects are often informed by strong research and her delivery aims to be local/theme specific, fully engaging public members in a performative way.
Youngsook worked with various institutions and communities such as Barbican Centre, Milton Keynes Arts Centre, MK Islamic Arts Heritage and Culture in the UK, and Sexuality Museum for Young People, and Women and Space Festival in Korea.
