My work centres on exploring endangered species, patterns in nature and conservation; experimenting with paper as a medium. I cut, collage and construct pieces of 2 and 3 dimensions from unusual, found or hand painted papers.

My artwork plays with the endless possibilities of paper. I draw on my knowledge of paper as a medium to capture movement, shape and space using paper cutting, collage and drawing. A Tudor Paper Galleon, entirely constructed from Tarasen grass paper, was a recent site specific commission, for the First Cut exhibition at the Tudor House Museum. My dry papier mache technique was used to create a Paper Palace in Hampton Court’s Cartoon Gallery. I cut a sequence of ‘papel picados’ for Pixar Disney to help launch the movie Coco.

My work revolves around conservation and nature. For an exhibition in Rhode Island, USA, I chose to display imperilled American Wildflower species in a giant 20 foot long collage. My Tiffany Glass book contains 85 plant and flower drawings. My best selling Tangle Wood for Search Press, is full of the flora and fauna of the hedgerows near my home in Bath. Other inspirations come from my love of ancient stitching, embroidery, tapestries, costumes, lace, knitting, stained glass.

I am the in-house illustrator for English Heritage and also a Visiting Artist at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Sir John Soane Museum, Museum of London, Holburne Museum in Bath, British Museum, Hampton Court Palace, Wallace Collection, The Garden Museum and National Portrait Gallery among many others.  I am a visiting tutor at the Bristol Drawing School in the Royal West of England Academy and at Bath University’s creative space – The Edge. I recently illustrated a poetry collection with cut outs, collages and 3D collographs.

I am the author of “The Art of Papercutting” (Search Press 2015)
