Ellie Jo Vitesse West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
My name is Jodie Speed, I work under the name of Ellie Jo Vitesse. I am particularly interested in Steampunk and Victorian aesthetics in clothing, including Menswear and Womenswear, with a focus on corsets. Recently I have been working on incorporating beauty adornments into my work, such as false eyelashes.
I make a variety of outfits based around the Steampunk aesthetic, some of my work is very literal and uses a strong Victorian look to create pieces, such as corsets or Victorian tail coats. I also look at incorporating the Steampunk aesthetic in a subtle way, without being too costume based. Within my corset work I like to use a variety of materials and I am less focused on the structure of the corset and more on the mixing of fabric and materials. Lately I have been incorporating women's beauty adornments into my work, such as false eyelashes and hair extensions. I use these adornments on both menswear and womenswear. I am inspired by the work of artists such as Alexander McQueen and reading about the Victorian Era, both influences can be seen within my work to a certain extend. My current project includes adding Steampunk influences to my Wedding dress and Grooms suit ready for upcoming public steampunk events.
