Aamta's practice mirrors her experiences as a British Muslim woman, and her strife with societal issues such as honour, shame, and culture. Throughout her work she delves deeper into the deep-rooted issues within her community such as gendered stereotypes, the female body, cultural tensions, and the perception’s and expectations of the Muslim women. Aamta at present is exploring the affects and perceptions of the menstrual cycle within the South Asian Muslim community. She is exploring proverbs through the language ‘Urdu’ the native tongue of her community; her practice currently emulates how this has shaped the foreseen ‘reputation’ and ‘fate’ of a Muslim woman.
