Tina Finch Lancashire, United Kingdom
I am a visual artist working predominantly in painting to explore the shifting landscape and beauty of our surroundings. I believe painting through its textures and relationship to colour acts as a very visceral medium to expose and explore ideas around change. The background colours of the paintings reflect the surrounding landscape and mood.
My expressionistic painting style conveys emotion and meaning rather than reality. I paint the figures in a vague, characterless, faceless, unresolved way to initiate a range of emotions from anxiety to euphoria. The figures have unspecified genders, are all ages and shapes, to evoke human vulnerability which we can all identify with, and are either standing alone or in groups, like statues, waiting for something to happen. The landscapes the figures inhabit evoke a place of peace and transformation.
