Pamela Crowe West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Artist, Writer. I work conceptually with text, image, audio and video. I make work about voice and proximity, facilitating people coming together. My practice explores how we form in response to others, as a work of relief perhaps, according to the spaces and gaps that another's physical and psychic form allow. So power eventually, I look at power.
1974, Stockport. Pamela Crowe is an artist and writer based in Leeds. She makes image, text, audio and indexical work about female options and passivity. Also, the threshold in psychic pain where creativity becomes possible and where it cannot. Her recordings – direct readings of her text, poetry and dialogues – are an attempt to clarify the author’s voice and anchor it permanently to the text. She regularly performs her work live. Her poem ‘socks’ was shortlisted for the 2019 Bridport Poetry Prize, she was shortlisted for the National Poetry Competition 2020 and her debut poetry pamphlet is forthcoming with The Emma Press. www.pamelacrowe.com
