Sam Burgess Northumberland, United Kingdom
I am based within Northumberland and have been working as an artist and creative producer since 2004. My practice is based on exploring and re-presenting materials, how I can manipulate them and how they relate to an environment. I am inspired by patterns, systems, repetition and the ever-changing elements of our natural and urban environments, and the point at which these co-exist.
Exploring an environment through photography is usually the starting point of my work, often merging into collage and sculpture using found materials and my interest in stitching and knitting. I spend time playing with materials as a way to develop my ideas.
