Places that exude a sense of past, a public fascia and private interior; where a gap or an interval might pervade their decline or revival, are an ongoing source of enquiry. Familiar but often estranged or transitory, I examine how such sites of heterotopia simultaneously reflect and disturb the spaces that surround them.
My work gathers from research projects that have led me to far places and to those close to heart and home. I pursue an expanded practice of experimental film, sound, performance and printmaking. Still and moving images co-exist: overhead projections, analogue photographs; large scale overlaid screen-prints and solar plate intaglio etchings. Short experimental films are realised from the embodied encounter of a site or space, and the performance of place.
I am an MA Fine Art graduate in Site and Archive Interventions from the University of Central Lancashire, attaining the 2018 Fellowship Award from ArtLab Contemporary Print Studios at UCLan. I am a neo:artists studio holder in Bolton and Castlefield Gallery Associates member in Manchester.
I have exhibited widely and undertaken several residencies and collaborative exchanges using unconventional studio spaces or online platforms to experiment with a range of media including projection, film and spoken word performance.
