East Street Arts are looking to commission a local artist to create a mural in the ground floor accessible toilet for the Art Hostel. Artists will have free reign of all four walls and will be encouraged to give the space a new lease of life.

East Street Arts are looking for an artist to jazz up and add some sparkle to the most used room in the Art Hostel- the toilet. Art Hostel has commissioned Leeds based artists Precious Collective, Drew Millward and Hannah Stacey to bring life and colour to the dorms and private rooms in the past, and are now inviting applications to reinvigorate the lavatory walls.

We are looking for an artist who's practice mirrors the ethos of the Art Hostel and who will provide a bold, vibrant and welcoming aesthetic to the hostel's most used room. We encourage applications from Illustrators, Graphic Designers, Fine Artists and any who are willing to adapt their practice to a challenging space.

The space is approximately 2.5m in length with 1.75m in width and a 3m ceiling. The largest wall is empty with a surface area of 3m x 2.5m.

This is a non-residential commission and artists must provide their own accommodation for the duration of the project.

A budget of £300 to cover artist fee and materials will be given. The chosen artist will be expected to complete the project by the end the end of November and the space fully in use for the opening of Arctic Bazaar on the 11th of December.

Photographic documentation will be provided by East Street Arts if requested.

Selected Artist will be notified on the 1st of November 2017.
