Nostalgia is often rooted in an attachment to scenes from our childhood homelands; an exaggerated affection for the past, that reflects a disenchantment with the present and a foreboding about the future. 

However, our efforts to hold on to the past are never wholly successful. The past we hold on to, or attempt to reconstruct, is always shaped by the present. Our desire to make the past conform with our expectations, lead us not only to alter the evidence, but to invent and fabricate it as well. 

Furnished through our tangible links to the past, specific environments, spaces and belongings, it is only through our own memory, and that of others that we ever truly understand any scene or object.

'Always Present' is our new open call at Void collective. We invite contemporary artists to submit works of any medium in response to the thmeme, for an online group exhibition.

Submissions

Submissions are free and open to all.

Deadline 

Submissions must be received before midnight on 6th April 2021

Exhibition dates

From 22nd April and will then be shown permanently via our website.

We will also promote your work through our Instagram account.

Fee

Free to enter, if selected we ask of a £5 contribution fee  to be part of the exhibition. Void Collective are a non-profit organization.
 
Selection

The exhibition will be selected and curated by Void Collective.

Media

Any form of media will be accepted including painting, sculpture, photography, performance, video, installation , printmaking, sound, etc.
