Matéria Cíclica is looking for an emerging contemporary artist to be part of our 2-year exhibiting programme, to start in May 2020.

Matéria Cíclica [Cyclic Matter] is a recently founded not-for-profit arts and literary production organisation. We are specialised hosts as we self-publish and exhibit investigations with our guests in the field of art practice and the environmental humanities, while providing spaces and strategies for an ecocentric community to grow. We do this by focusing on the role of the artist in local contemporary socio-political contexts and we use a circular methodology to engage with the local community.

We mimic ecology’s own methodology by making use of transdisciplinarity and in our research programme we host artists and scientists from both social and natural sciences.

Located across 3 - soon to be 4 - locations in the boroughs of Peniche and Óbidos on the Silver Coast of Portugal, we provide an immersive programme where the land and the water are our main focus.

Artists working in:

Digital Art, Video Art, Animation, Sculpture, Installation, Performance, Artivism, Book Art, Land-Art

Simply send us your website for the opportunity of being longlisted.

Those who are longlisted will be sent a proposal with all the details of our programme and terms and conditions of our organisation.

Longlisted artists can then submitt to a second stage which will entail an artist statement-turned-motivation letter and their CV.

Shortlisted artists will be interviewed via Skype.
