Holy Trinity Church (Micklegate, York) is looking for an artist (or artists) to contribute works to an exhibition celebrating Refugee Week.

Background

Refugee Week takes place every year; the 2020 dates are 15 June to 21 June. It is a nationwide programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK, and encourages a better understanding between communities.

The space

Holy Trinity Church on Micklegate was a Benedictine Priory. While being a working church, our building plays host to concerts, plays, iconography workshops and more. It has also been used as an exhibition space for the two Bloom! York festivals, York Photography Group and flower festivals.

The brief

We are looking for an artist (or artists) to contribute to an exhibition during Refugee Week. Whether you work in print, oils, pen, ink, textiles, ceramics, embroidery or photography, if your work relates to the theme of celebrating refugees, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The exhibition will open on 15 June. Please make sure that you will be able to produce and deliver/set-up your work by the evening of 14 June.

Requirements:

There are no requirements to sell works during the exhibition. However, we would like artists to consider donating a percentage of any commission from sales to the church for work supporting refugees in the Middle East.

The artist will need to provide a brief biography/CV to accompany their work.

The artist is responsible for the delivery and return/collection of all works to the church.
