Fronteer Gallery are now accepting exhibition proposals for the gallery in 2021.

Applications are now open for gallery hire in January 2021 and we have a range of packages available depending on how much help you would like with promotion and curation.

We are looking for exhibition proposals from individual artists or groups.

The gallery is always invigilated by gallery staff, so there is no need for you to be present throughout the exhibition if you do not wish to be.

At the present time we are not planning to hold private view evenings due to Coronavirus restrictions, although this may change as government guidelines continue to change.

The gallery is available to hire for one or two week exhibitions. Artists will be selected based on their proposal, and although 2 week exhibitions would be preferable, proposals will be judged on how well they work with the space and the wider program of events.

Below are the gallery hire packages available, but if you cannot see something that is quite right for you, we can work with you to tailor to your needs.

How to Apply

Please complete the proposal form. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything please get in touch.

Please tell us your preferred dates from the list of availability below. You should list the dates in order of preference, and you should leave out dates which are not suitable. If you would like a two week exhibition, please write the dates for the full 2 weeks (e.g. 4th – 17th January).

Please note that weeks are listed here as 7 day bookings, even though the gallery only opens to the public 4 days a week, to allow for installation and deinstallation of work. If you would like to open for additional days please get in touch to discuss your options.

About the Gallery

We have building works planned for the gallery once funding is approved which will solve the issues below. This may already have been carried out by the time your exhibition is due, but you should be aware of the following issues and expect that it is very likely that they will still apply in January.

The gallery walls are not currently suitable to hold very heavy pieces of work. If you have any questions about hanging, suitability or any unusual requests, please get in touch.

The gallery walls have a number of plug sockets and other obstructions dotted around. Many of these we are able to work around with clever hanging, but in places they may disrupt a long stretch of wall. Normal gallery opening hours are Wednesday- Fridays 11-4, Saturdays 2-7. Your exhibition must be open during these times.

You should be prepared to bring everything you will need for your exhibition with you, e.g. plinths.

We want to be as helpful as possible, so please get in touch to ask question or discuss any requests. We look forward to reading your proposal.
