Lemon Curd creates a space for thoughts and gestures to exist, grow and evolve. It is through self-speculation, and contemplation of the environment we live in that we can attempt to critically engage with the intricate complexities of our nature. We are a not-for-profit platform wanting to start conversations, inviting submissions to the theme 'Becoming'.

What is meant by ‘nature’? Human nature is not a fixed idea that supports the status quo or socio-conservative values. Explore our nature as an intricate landscape of being and the relationships that form and unfold within it.

This is what is intriguing, these different narratives that are born as you come into contact with the world. We evolve collectively, entangled and integrated within an interdependent ecosystem.

We can expand critical thought by bridging the gap between our theoretical, practical and sensuous modes of being. Through dialogue, we can open up possibilities and grow generosity in a process of learning how to live better together.

Every small detail of life is worth looking into, because they each form the endlessly transforming fabric of our existence. Reflect on these details that make up life. Speculate - self-speculate, imagine, think about, appreciate or question your surroundings, the things you feel, hear, taste, smell and see.

We are a not-for-profit platform wanting to start conversations, inviting submissions to the theme 'Becoming'. You can visit our website to view submissions from 2018.

BECOMING

[grow to be; develop into.]

We exist in motion, everyday interacting with our environment, with the past and present in a process of transformation. In our thoughts and through our actions we can transcend our current conditions and contribute to a new and alternative future.

What are you becoming? Or trying to become?

What are we as a collective becoming? Have we changed at all?

(What processes are at play? What were the defining moments? What ideas are you embodying?)

…explore this theme in a form that comes natural to you, prose, essays, videos, journal entry, podcasts, collages, photos, sound/visual art, poetry, a mix, illustrations…experiment (this isn’t an exhaustible list)

Submissions should be no longer than 1,500 words. Please ensure you provide a short summary explaining the relevance of your work to theme. If you are unsure, we are happy to look at your proposal.

Some submissions will appear first online and then as a printed issue.

Works do not have to be previously unpublished, but please let us know so that we can give full acknowledgement.
