Creatively improving mental health Fundraiser! Charity Art Auction Wed Sept 13th 2017 6-8pm @ The Holy Biscuit Gallery.

We hope through this event to raise Mental Health awareness, actively tackle stigma as well as support the future endeavours of Chilli Studios “to provide a sustainable service that engages people in creative activity, which promotes social inclusion and interaction, develops skills and ability which builds resilience, enables potential and improves wellbeing.”

We are holding a charity art auction and hoping you can help us gain interest and support. We would be truly thankful if you could consider donating any of your amazing works in the aid of our Art & Mental Health work or help spread the word.

We also will celebrate Artists’ support and kindness in donating to this important cause by:

  • Featuring in an 8 days exhibition and high profile event
  • Coverage and Artist Profile on Chilli Studio & Partner social media sites
  • Coverage and Artist Profile on Chilli Studio Webpage
  • Hire of Chilli Studio space for a one off 1/2 day activity
  • 10% Discount card for Chilli Bizarre Art Cafe Shop

Either existing pieces or new works would be welcomed. Please submit by  Friday 25th August 2017.

Chilli Studios is a registered charity, under our original title of Newcastle and Gateshead Art Studio (NAGAS). We provide support to those who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing a wide range of diagnosed mental health problems, or social exclusion within their communities. We provide a user-led arts & music studio service with a range of art specialists and peers supporting activity and workshops. We assist members in developing skills in a wide range of creative based activities, these include: Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture, Photography, Digital Media, Printmaking, Glasswork, Textiles, Creative Writing, General Arts and Crafts as well Music. Members are given the freedom to work independently in the studio or join any of our structured workshops which are delivered weekly. Additional activities and events which are facilitated by Chilli Studiosinclude: Regular exhibitions in local galleries, culturally relevant field trips, information sharing and support sessions, quarterly newsletters and monthly members meetings which greatly influences the direction of our Charity work.

Please contact Jo 0191 209 4058 to discuss delivery of the work to our venue. We maybe able to collect in your area but delivery of the artwork would be ideally dropped off or sent to Chilli Studios, Newbridge Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 2TQ (Please ring to discuss postage costs). We also have a Cumbria base available to drop art works at.
Are there payments to artists?
No this is a charity fund raising event but there are a few benefits including:

Celebrational Open night preview Tues 5th September 6.30-8pm

The exhibition will continue from 6th-13th, Tues-Fri 11am-4pm, Sat 1-4pm

Do I need to be present?
No but you would be welcome.
How do you decide on proposals?
A small steering group of Chilli Studio staff, members and invited international artists. Work will be chosen on quality and whether it is exhibition ready.
