COVID-19 is an extraordinary event in recent history that had completely shifted the mode of everyday life. Here we are asking your creative responses while in the lockdown. How did you encounter the pandemic? Tell us your story. #covent19 #callforart #love #hope #humour #inspiration

Call for Submissions: CoVent-19

On March 11, the WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a pandemic, and for the first time in recent history, we are collectively facing the uncertainty that has completely disrupted the patterns of everyday lives. It has placed economies under constraints and political agencies in jeopardy and restricted our social and personal interactions - forcing us literally to see the world from our windows.

At the same time, we see the spirit of hope and human resilience. Across the globe, people are responding with acts of support, kindness and appreciation that enable medical staff, vulnerable communities and the public to cope with the pandemic.

Behind the front lines, art and creative expression help people to cope with and make sense of these extraordinary events. How did you encounter the pandemic?

Tell us your story.

As we move through this period of uncertainty, we want to see people’s creative responses towards the coronavirus outbreak by collecting not just stories of fear and uncertainty but also stories of love, hope, humour, and inspiration. Our hope is to bring together creative responses from around the world so we can help the world feel more connected and cope with the emergency.  We will feature selected stories in an online exhibition from May 3 - 31 2020.

Submit:

1 to 5 digital works (photos, multimedia works, animations, images of artwork, poetry/prose) and a paragraph (max 300 words) about your interpretation of the topic.

Participants may gather as a duo or team to send 1 to 5 pieces along with their statement.

The format should be in a .jpg file.
