*PAINTER, MIXED MEDIA AND PHOTOGRPAHY CALL OUT* 'For Futures sake' is an exhibition to promote the use of sustainable materials, whether that is within the theme of the work, or, the materials sourced. The exhibition is based on eco resourcing, sustainable materials and found objects. It will also have an underlying abstract theme incorporating 2d, 3d and sound. Open to National and International artists. We are looking for a strong eco, recycling and upcycling message. Other Concepts welcome, as long as the underlying theme is adhered to.

Living in such a throw away society, what can be done to change our future? how can we educate the next generation to think of ways to reuse materials and extend the life of the beautiful planet we live on?

The location and venue of the exhibition is a temporary pop up Gallery space in a large space, previously used as offices. The Space is Located in Horsforth, Leeds and is also being used by artists and community art groups. The Space is supplied and supported by both East Street Arts and Skippko

The advantage of working in pop up temporary spaces is the flexibility of the work exhibited and the organic and raw feel of the space.

The dates for this exhibititon run over the weekend of the Horsforth Walk of Art festival (7th/8th July 2018) and the exhibition will run over this weekend in conjunction with the festival. There is also a 'mini tour' planned for this exhibititon and we are currently looking at venues in York, Newcastle, Leeds, Hull and Huddersfield. The fee for each exhibition will be £20 per location, however if anyone is interested in helping to man the space, then the fee would be levied. It is hoped that all artworks accepted will feature in the whole exhibition tour (each venue)

On recieving your invoice, the fees will be clearly stated for each venue and you can then confirm which venues you wish to be featured in/ opt out of. We would love for all the work to be the same at each venue but realise that this may not be possible for everyone. More details regarding this are to follow and will also be confirmed if your work is accepted.

All work will need to be delivered to either the curator (based in North Yorkshire) or the venue on set up day.

Couriered or posted work is accepted, however the cost entailed needs to be covered by the artist. The venue does not hold insurance for artists work, so it is down to the individual artist to make sure they have insurance in place if they so require.

There is no fee to submit your work however a fee of £20 is payable upon acceptance and secures your place within the exhibition. This covers the cost of the venue, the curators time and any advertising and marketing used to promote the event. The fee also covers refreshments for the opening night, if applicable. You are welcome to submit more than 1 piece of artwork however if we accept more than 1 piece of work, after the initital £20, any further pieces are exhibited with a £5 fee. Again, this is just to cover curator time and venue costs. The space is manned by the Curator throughout the exhibititon and the fee also covers the curators time. There is no commisision on work sold. If anyone is happy to volunteer their time to invigilate the space and get involved, please get in touch.

With temporary spaces a lot of work goes into the preparation of the space. The curator usually also invigilates the space so the fee covers all of this. Many hours, weeks or months go into planning and the fee is set to represent this.

As the spaces are 'temporary pop up' spaces, which also means there is no 'license to trad'e, this means that any potential sales are made via the artists and all artists details are clearly labelled next to the work.
