Fronteer presents GREEN CITY, an open call pop-up exhibition of postcard sized (A6) work on the theme of plants and flowers. The exhibition will run for two days on 17th & 18th August 2019 at Kommune in Sheffield city centre. Submissions are now open!
We are looking for works inspired by plants, flowers, gardens, weeds, succulents, pot plants, trees, and anything related to Sheffield as a green city, as we help to grow and support the regeneration this urban city centre area.
Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit work, and it is free to submit, with only successful artists paying an £8 entry fee for each piece of work accepted.
We will let you know if you have been successful by Tuesday 9th July. If successful, you will be invited to send your work to Exchange Place Studios, Sheffield, UK, where Fronteer is based. Your work must reach us by no later than Saturday 10th August. Work should be posted along with a stamped, addressed envelope for the return postage of your work you after the exhibition.
The £8 entry fee for successful artists can be paid via Paypal or bank transfer by Sunday 21st July (midnight). Payment should be made in this way unless other arrangements are made. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August at Kommune. There will also be an activity space where the public to have a go at making their own postcard too, inspired by the work in the exhibition.
How to Submit
Please submit by completing the submission form. You are welcome to submit as many works as you like, but works will be considered as individual pieces, (for example, no diptychs etc.) and successful works will each cost £8 if accepted.
Conditions
Work must be unframed and made on a postcard, or on paper, card, photography paper or thin lightweight board (no thicker than half a millimetre before the artwork is applied) and cut to size.
Work should not have any hanging attachments, and we will hang work ourselves using low tack sticking strips, so please be aware that this will be attached to the back of your work.
Work can be offered for sale during the exhibition, and we will not charge commission.
All work must be complete at the time of submission, and must fit the dimensions specified. Any work which varies from the original piece submitted may be rejected. If you wish to submit a print, it will be your responsibility to print it off before posting it to us.
Artists should send a stamped addressed envelope so that we can send work back when the exhibition is over. We will send your work back within 1 month of the closing day.
