Gwendolyn Gallery is nomadic Wendy house gallery space based in Liverpool created to provide artist with a platform to present work in an not so pretentious white cube space. Gwendolyn invites artists to apply for her 2018 Degree Show Research Residency.
One artist will be selected to use Liverpool city and the LJMU facilities and to carry out a 1 week research project. This project can be existing work or otherwise and can be used as time to carry out research with access to LJMU libraries and facilitates.
The resident artist will receive on-going support from Gwendolyn gallery curator and tutors and students at LJMU. The selected artist will be expected to use the week to carry out research and present the research In the john lennon art and design building. How the research is presented will be left up to the artist. The artist is expected to document their time on the residency through Gwen’s Instagram account. The artist will have full access to the LJMU facilities and will be provided with accommodation, food and travel costs covered.
The resident artist will have a studio space at John Lennon Art and Design building.
Other facilities and equipment will include:
• Use of the print room, including screen-printing, etching and a variety of print medias
• Use of the sculpture workshop, including workbenches, sander, chop-saw and selection of hand tools
• AV equipment, including monitors, data projectors, DVD players, speakers, amps
• free Internet and Library access
and a tour round liverpool and its art spaces.
The resident artist will be supported by:
• Free accommodation, provided by Gwedolyn Gallery
• £3 per weekday meal vouchers, provided by Gwendolyn gallery (aka a meal deal)
• Travel expenses for 1 return journey to and from Liverpool Lime street
Gwendolyn Gallery is currently in procces of trying to get acess to fund from to pay the artist £100.(but its like hitting my head agaisnt a wall) Artist will be informed aspa if Gwen gets the funds for that little extra bit (fingers crossed).
The residency will start 24th of May and end on the 31st with some kind of presentation of the research made so far.
