Paid opportunity
We are seeking an artist to create an artwork across two floors that uses the materials of the print archive of the theatre to express the experience of theatre-going at Bristol Old Vic over the theatre's first 250 years. A lot of this archive exists in physical and digital form in the theatre's archives at the University of Bristol, and earlier ones at Bristol Archives. The artwork will be an integral part of our theatre and part of the interpretation of our history. The artwork should appeal to a range of audiences of different ages, and be very accessible.
The deadline for expressions of interest in receiving the full brief is Monday 23 October, 12 noon.
To request the full brief, please send a CV and examples of your work.
From the expressions of interest we will select three (3) artists by 27 October, who will then be invited to submit full proposals by 13 November and attend an interview to discuss these further on 16/17 November. £300 will be paid for these submissions.
The appointment will be made in late November with design development between 6 Jan - 29 March and installation 14-25 May 2018.
