BAMM members are invited to submit their work based around the theme of 'Look back and smile'.

'Look Back and Smile' - The Bride of Triermain, Sir Walter Scott. 1813

The British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM) will be exhibiting at the Scott Gallery in Hawick in the Scottish Borders to coincide with the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of Sir Walter Scott's birth.

Submissions are invited based around the theme of 'Look back and smile'. This theme can be interpreted in a number of ways. We encourage work that reflects thoughts on past experiences, as well as work inspired by Scott’s writing and his home in Abbotsford in the Scottish Borders.

Both 2D and 3D works are encouraged. We want to showcase the full range of mosaic artwork, from small pieces of  mosaic jewellery to larger, sculptural work.

Work must be received ready to hang/display.  Mirror plates are preferred for larger pieces.  Accepted work should arrive between Thursday 12th and Saturday 14th August and be delivered to the studio of Joy Parker, who is one of the curators.  Delivery details will be provided following acceptance of work.  Participants are responsible for the cost of shipping their work to the assigned delivery address. They are also responsible  for the cost of return shipping if work is unsold.  The gallery will take a 30% commission plus VAT on all sales. BAMM will not take any addtional commission.

This opportunity is only open to BAMM members and we encourage all members to submit their work. More information about BAMM, including how to become a member can be found here.

The Scott Gallery is part of Hawick Museum, an 18th century mansion which became home to the town's museum in 1910. It is the oldest museum in Scotland and a VisitScotland 4 star attraction. For more information about the location visit the Live Borders website

Exhibition dates:  26th August 2021 - 14th November 2021.

An online 'private view' of the exhibiton will be held on Friday 8th October as part of the BAMM online forum weekend.

What kind of proposals are you looking for?
We are looking for mosaic artworks that reflect the theme of the exhibition 'Look back and smile'. As this year is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Walter Scott, artwork that relates to his life and work are also encouraged.
Will my work be insured?
The work will be insured while at the Scott Gallery. However, work must be delivered to Joy Parker's studio and it will not be covered by any insurance until it is delivered to the Gallery shortly afterwards. Great care will be given at all times to the handling and storage of the work but if you are concerned about this we advise you to arrange your own insurance.
