Ministry of Fabulous Abominations, Memorial Exhibition 2018.
Deadline: 31/08/2018Venue: Black-E | City: Liverpool | Region: Lancashire | Country: United Kingdom | Rebecca Fitton
We are looking for Artists who are able to create a piece of work from a brief. The work will be displayed as part of The Ministry of Fabulous Abominations Memorial Exhibition at the Black-E in Liverpool in November 2018.
Hate crime against the LGBT community has risen by 76% in the UK since 2013 and around one in five LGBT+ individuals have experienced a hate crime or incident in the last 12 months based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The Ministry of Fabulous Abominations was formed to raise awareness of this issue. We stand up to prejudice and hate crime against the LGBTQ+ community using art, activism, a little faith and a lot of glitter.
Our Memorial Exhibition this year will be a colourful tribute to all the lives lost to homophobic and trans-phobic hate crime worldwide as well as a celebration of the resilience and creativity that have long been the survival tools of the LGBTQ+ community.
Send us some examples of your work and if you are successful in your application you will be sent information about an indivual who lost their life to homophobic and trans-phobic hate crime. From that information we ask that you make a piece of memorial work responding to the information you are given.
The exhibition will take place on the first weekend in November at the Black-E, Liverpool alongside our Memorial Event.
