Summer Group Show at Left Bank Leeds (12-15 July) looking for diverse works exploring the theme of "movement" through different mediums.

The Movement: Summer Group Show invites artists whose work fits within the very open theme of "movement" to take part in a group exhibition at Left Bank Leeds, 12-15 July. This could include: kinetic sculpture, paintings, brushstrokes that display movement, photography that captures movement, dance, drawing, drawing machines, mark making, foot prints, tire tracks, animal tracks, political movements, bowel movements...we really are quite open!   

Selected artists will be required to install their work at the venue 9-10 July, there will be an opening event on Wednesday 12 July, 6-9pm (all welcome) and the exhibition will be open to the public 13-15 July. All artists will be required to take their work down on Sunday 16 July. For further information please see the FAQs.

Left Bank Leeds is a multidisciplinary arts venue set in an amazing grade II* listed former church building in Leeds. Our mission is to preserve our building in order to inspire and empower through a programme of arts and events that promote creativity, connection and wellbeing.

When is the deadline?
All submissions must be received via CuratorSpace by 12noon Wednesday 28 June.
How many works can I submit?
An artist can submit up to 3 individual pieces or up to 2 series.
When is the delivery date?
Work will need to be installed on Sunday 9 July (12-6pm) and/or Monday 10 July (12-6pm).
When do I need to collect my work?
All work must be collected on Sunday 16 July (12-6pm).
How much does it cost?
There is no fee to submit nor to exhibit.
Are there payments to artists?
Unfortunately there is no funding for this exhibition so we are unable to pay a fee nor expenses.
Is there a private view / opening?
There is an opening event on Wednesday 12 July (6-9pm) which is open to all. It would be great if selected artists are available to attend.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
Wed 12 July, Opening night, 6-9pm
Thurs 13 July, Exhibition open 10am-4pm
Fri 14 July, Exhibition open 10am-4pm
Sat 15 July, Exhibition open 10am-4pm
Does the location have disabled access?
There is a step into the building but a ramp is available on request. Unfortunately the toilets are not yet accessible for wheelchair users and a section of our floor space is raised.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
The marketing department at Left Bank Leeds will design and distribute printed and online marketing materials.
Do I need to be present?
Ideally the artist will be available to install and take down their own work. If this is not possible and your work is straight forward to install we may be able to install for you though this will need to be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
How do you decide on proposals?
The curatorial team will select works that explore the theme of movement, will work within the space and compliment other works chosen. If you are submitting a performance piece please be aware that it will need some form of representation if unavailable throughout the exhibition opening times, be it an instillation, film or resulting visuals from the performance.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
You will be notified by midnight on Friday 30 June.
