Culture Warrington has created a space for affordable studios attached to Warrington Museum & Art Gallery.

Studio spaces are available to rent by local and regional artists. The spaces are competitively priced and a range of different sizes are available to suit different artists’ needs (see images for more info).

All spaces are heated and rent is inclusive of energy costs and access to shared collaborative spaces in the building, including two workshop spaces. Artists will also be encouraged to make links with other artists as well as museum and gallery staff, which could lead to exhibitions, workshops and professional development opportunities.

Please complete the submission form to tell us about yourself and express your interest in renting a studio space.

Update 16/06/2021:

  • All studio spaces are now occupied but if you want to be on the waiting list please use the form on the 'make a submission tab' to apply.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Professional artists with insurance. If you don't have insurance you'll need to get it before you apply. We recommend registering for an artist membership of a-n, which includes this along with many other benefits for professional artists. More info here: https://www.a-n.co.uk/register-artist/
When is the deadline?
Open until the spaces are filled
How much does it cost?
Depending on size, spaces are priced between £30 and £150 per calendar month. See the image gallery in the opportunity 'description' tab for more info on the different spaces available.
What are the studio opening hours?
9am - 10pm
Does the location have disabled access?
Unfortunately only the ground floor of the studio space is currently wheelchair accessible.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Yes, studio artists will receive a profile on the museum's website.
How do you decide on proposals?
Studios will be allocated to suitable artists on a first-come first-served basis. By suitable we mean professional artists with artists' insurance, who can demonstrate a willingness to work with other artists and museum/gallery staff on joint projects.
Can spaces be shared by artists?
Depending on your practice and how much space you'd need, some of our spaces may be suitable for more than one artist, such as Studio 7 for example.
Are the spaces furnished?
Other than what is already listed in the descriptions (see gallery), no.
Can I paint/decorate the space?
Of course, all we ask is that when you have finished renting the space, you leave it in a suitable condition for the next artist.
