Ones to Watch; our annual exhibition for creative students and 2018 graduates currently studying in or from Yorkshire is back! This will be our 6th Ones to Watch exhibition. In the last 5 years over 180 emerging artists in all disciplines including film, dance, jewellery making, textiles and of course fine art have had the opportunity to exhibit in a professional setting. Many have sold work and/or gone on to be stocked in the Gallery. Please submit your work to be considered for Sunny Bank Mills sixth annual Ones To Watch exhibition!

We are looking for emerging talent from across Yorkshire in any creative discipline for our sixth annual Ones to Watch exhibition.

Previous exhibitors, apart from putting on an amazing exhibition:

  • earned cash prizes (we will have a number of prizes available this year; including access to our residency studio space for 3 months)
  • sold their work (and a number continue to be stocked by us)
  • used the information on their CVs to obtain other commissions and exhibitions
  • networked with other creative practitioners


To be eligible for this opportunity you must be either: a current student on a creative degree in Yorkshire, or a 2018 graduate from a creative degree in Yorkshire. You are also eligible if you are currently studying/or a 2018 graduate from a creative degree outside of Yorkshire, if you were originally born, from or residing in Yorkshire.

Mid –way between Leeds and Bradford; 3,000 square feet of light airy exhibition and performance space in this former worsted mill which is also home to a number of creative businesses including graphic designers, commercial photographers, and pr managers.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
To be eligible for this opportunity you must be either: a current student on a creative degree in Yorkshire, or a 2018 graduate from a creative degree in Yorkshire. You can upload up to 5 images of your work - please do not submit multiple applications
When is the delivery date?
Delivery date week commencing 4th March - 12th March at the latest.
When do I need to collect my work?
13th-17th May 2019

Are there payments to artists?
No - but there are a number of prizes
Is there a private view / opening?
Yes - Friday 16th March Evening
What are the exhibition opening hours?
The gallery is open 10-4 Tuesday to Saturday and 11-3 Sundays
The gallery is closed on Mondays
Does the location have disabled access?
Yes, step free access from rear of building, accessible toilet and parking spaces.
Do I need to be present?
No - we have gallery staff who will be present
Will I need to provide anything to install my work?
The gallery will curate and install the show. If your work is particularly difficult to install we might ask for your assistance!
The gallery has a number of plinths for display- you will need to provide your own if you require a specific size
You will also need to provide any of your own AV equipment.
