Open Call for Artists, MODEM Center for Modern and Contemporary Art, Debrecen, Hungary. Date of the Exhibition: 16.02.2019 open until 05.05.2019.
The MODEM Center for Modern and Contemporary Art is a cultural institution with international connections, which has two main missions: the exhibition of the most significant 20th century Hungarian and international works of art, and the representative presentation of the current schools and progressive efforts of the contemporary visual art and culture as well as most respected Hungarian and international artists.
The possible participation, presentation or performance of the artist's artwork is will be supported with a modest fee of €250 (a condition is to create a new artwork, installation, or performance that remains in possession of the artist). Moderate regional travel expenses are covered and accommodation in Debrecen is also available. The city of Debrecen intends to compete for the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2023, our institution is a partner in this endeavor.
Because of the regional focus, character of this Exhibition, at this time we are only seeking regional (artists) participants. Artists from Hungary's neighbouring countries are preferred including Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria.
There is no particular theme, also the media is open, (painting, video, prints, sculpture, performance, and so on) but there are some keywords on which artist can react, or redefine with their artworks.
Keywords:
- my own present
- attempts to move
- elsewhere, differently, the same
- this is not the place
- nonplace
- dotted points
- exit roads
- between a point
- go, stay, stop
The Institution can provide basic technical support like video projectors, lighting, sound and so on, but the artist should produce their artworks independently.
Accommodation in Debrecen is freely available for accepted artists in this project.
Dates of the Exhibition: 16.02.2019 until 05.05.2019.
