Call out to all menstruators! Share your period stories with us to be featured in a crowdsourced book about period poverty; designed to educate and break misconception about menstruation. Let’s get everyone talking about periods and beat the stigma and shame around menstruation! Whether it’s your first period or your last, we encourage menstruators from any generation to share your period stories. Get those words flowing!

Period shame, stigma and hygiene misinformation surrounding menstruation are contributing to serious human rights concerns for women, girls and non-binary people. Countries with limited access to menstruation sanitations, such as period products and toilets, result in girls missing and dropping out of school.

One in five girls in the U.S. have left school early or missed days entirely because of a lack of access to menstrual products during their periods, while in South Asia, 23 million girls drop out annually from school due to the lack of menstrual hygiene management facilities. With girls dropping out of school, it increases the chances of untreated health problems, childhood marriages and therefore childhood pregnancies. With the knowledge of menstrual sanitation and reproductive health, young girls will enjoy their right to adequate living standards and health and well-being and regain bodily autonomy.

The “Red Cloud” wants to help break this vicious circle of period shaming!
