Deadline: 03/06/2020Venue: Online | City: Durham | Country: United Kingdom | Katie Braithwaite
Paid opportunity
Following on from the success of Summer in the City 2019, Durham’s art, music and theatre festival taking place throughout June, original plans have been repurposed to bring you SitC online 2020. This new online platform will present a varied programme of arts events throughout June for everyone to enjoy from home, including exhibitions, performances, and DIY activates, encouraging communities to get creative in response to the current climate. Summer in the City ONLINE is a collaboration between Durham University and Durham County Council.
We have 2 opportunities available! Please include in the submission which one you are applying for.
The Art team is looking to work with five artists from the North East to create short DIY films as an immediate personal response to quarantine, home and the national emergency, to feature as part of the festival. All films will be displayed on our website www.sitcfestival.org as part of our online short film festival. Films could be recorded on a camera, phone, iPad – whatever you have around you. Film limit of up to 5TB with a maximum playback resolution is 1920 x 1080.
We are also looking to commission five artists from the North East to create an online workshop, live workshop, downloadable resource or activity for our festival audiences to participate in. The workshop/resource should be inspired by notions of home. Workshops can be any type of activity, age group or style, it really is up to you.
All workshops will be displayed as part of SitC online on our festival platform www.sitcfestival.org. If you would like to submit a workshop idea, please send a maximum of 300 words describing your idea and why you would like to create it/feature it as part of the festival. Please outline what you would like to do and who it would be for.
Successful workshops will be selected by the festival panel on 4th June, completed workshops/materials must be received by 5pm on 10th June 2020.
We can offer a fee of £250 per selected artist.
