The Stalls are looking for talented artists and makers to take part in our Makers Market in the heart of Leeds city centre.

'The Stalls' enters its third year of hosting its outdoor bijoux Makers Market on the grounds of Arts@Trinity Church, on Boar Lane in Leeds city centre.

Our aim is to provide a platform for talented designers and makers (new, emerging and established) to showcase and sell their wares.

At each market we put together a diverse selection of makers - in order to keep the market fresh for the community and tourist - whilst hopefully offering returning stallholders a regular location to trade from and build a loyal customer following.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
We would like to hear from artists and makers from all disciplines i.e glass makers, printmakers and jewellery makers etc - as it is a bijoux market the range of work at each market needs to be kept diverse to keep it interesting for returning and new customers.
When is the deadline?
Makers are free to apply any month. But, please note this is a bijoux event and market stalls fill up quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment.
How many photographs of my work am I required to submit?
Please submit no less than 3 photographs (6 if this is a joint application).

The first photograph you submit should be of your stall/stand set up at an event.

The second photo should be a high resolution photo of your work preferably on a white background.
This photo might be used to help advertise this event.

The additional photos should be a good reflection of your work.
How much does it cost?
May 6 - £55
May 20 - £55

June 3 - £60
June 17 - £60
July 1 - £60
July 15 - £60
August 5 - £60

Sept 16 - £60
Oct 7 - £60
Oct 21 - £60
Nov 4 - £60
Nov 18 - £60

Dec 16 - £65
Dec 23 - £65
Can I share my stall?
Yes. A full market stall measures 10ftx4ft - sharing a space would give you a 5ftx4ft space which is sizeable.

As our fees have increased - we have had to pass these costs onto stallholders.
We highly recommend that markers try to share their stalls this year with another maker - to keep the market fee affordable.

It's easier if you can find another maker to share with - but if you can't, for an additional £5 we might be able to pair you up with another maker - but this is not guaranteed.
What is the selection criteria?
Artists and makers must make all of the pieces they intend to sell on their stall.

Stall displays must be visually appealing and have depth and height.

Artists and makers must have a valid PPL insurance policy to take part - you will be asked to forward a copy.

Makers who produce soaps, candles and items specifically intended for children must make sure they are creating products/wares that are compliant with current legislation and guidelines.
What is the selection criteria for returning stallholders?
We need to see that you are progressing as a maker. We would like to see;

Imaginative and cohesive stall layouts.
New ranges and products.
Signage - with your business name.
A considered pricing structure that takes into account the cost of the materials used, making and design time and packaging.
What is the size of the stall?
We use 10ft x 4ft covered market stalls. The stall has a tarpaulin covered roof.
What happens if my submission is successful?
You will be asked to make payment within 2-3 working days of acceptance.

We will not chase you for payment. If we don't receive payment we will assume that you no longer require a stall and offer it to another maker.
What happens if I have made payment but can not attend the market - can I have a refund?
No. You can sell your stall space on to another maker if you tell us in advance and we approve of their work.
But we will not offer refunds of any amount upon your cancellation. Once you cancel - we will re-advertise your stall space.
Are there any market stall display requirements?
Yes. Market stall displays should be of a high standard - with imaginative layouts..

Your business name should be clearly displayed and items priced.

Table clothes should be neutral i.e white or hessian - not patterned.
Your table covering should not only cover the top of your stall - but drop down from the stall top to the ground - to hide packaging/stock placed beneath your stall.
How many market dates can I apply for?
As many as you like - with exception for the month of December.

To take part in the December markets - please note that you will have to take part in two additional market dates listed - preferably in differing seasons.
Do I have to be there in person at the market?
Does the market take place indoors or outdoors?
This is an outdoor market. The market takes place on the grounds of Arts@Trinity Church on Boar Lane in Leeds city centre.
Can I park on site?
No. You can unload and upload your items on site, but you will need to find parking elsewhere for the day.

We suggest that you get dropped off and picked up.
What time should I arrive and where can I park?
A last minute details document will be sent to all stallholders the week the market takes place - this will include your arrival time and give you some ideas around parking locations.
