The Viewing Room project ft. Outpost Gallery, Norwich is an exciting new project aimed at galleries and artists affected by the national lockdown. The project expands the physical gallery, offering a 'stay open' approach.

'The Viewing Room' is an exciting new project by Stay Connected. The project aims to engage with contemporary galleries, working with them to replicate their physical space. The new reality... askes galleries to question the physicality of thier spaces. In what new ways can they connect and inspire the public?

The national lockdown closed the doors for a lot of galleries and artistic institutions, leaving the artwork inside hidden from the public. The Viewing Room expands the physical gallery, offering a 'stay open' approach, connecting with their audience and the artists inside the gallery walls. The project replicates a physical gallery in a 3D modelling software, giving galleries the opportunity to stay open, safe and connected during the national lockdown.

The very first gallery in the spotlight is Outpost Gallery, Norwich. Outpost is an artist-run charity committed to the uncompromising presentation of contemporary art. Founded in 2004, Outpost has quickly established itself as one of the leading centres for artist activity in the East of England.

The Viewing Room ft. Outpost Gallery will be launched on the 22nd April 2021. The virtual exhibition will be published on the Stay Connected website where each artists will have their own artist page which will include, images, 360 tours, artist statements, accessible links to any accounts appropriate, promotion across the Stay Connected Instagram page and, an archival feature on the Stay Connected website.

*Although this open call is predominately for 2D artists, everyone is encouraged to submit artwork as some 3D elements can be recreated within the software.*
