Whether it is due to national lockdowns, shielding or already using one's personal daily outdoor exercise allowance, everyone has felt the effects of the government's constantly changing guidelines over going outside and Staying at Home. For creatives this has led to a new era for creative development as well as personal reflection; with some artists trying new mediums, scales and concepts. Due to studios, facilities and resources, practices have changed for better and/or for worse.

The Virus Who Came to Tea, is an exhibition that will explore this period of Staying at Home and the reflective nature this has brought to creative practices. Planning to exhibit, artwork made that reflects and references the idea of 'Staying at Home' as well as artworks which takes inspiration from this period of isolation; these artworks will be exhibited in an online exhibition to discuss the variety of experiences and reflections made during the state of Staying at Home. 

Submitting Work:

  • 2D and 3D artworks are accepted. Non-digital work must be photographed at high quality (low-quality/pixelated images will not be accepted). 2D works must be cropped to the edges of the work. 3D works must be photographed against a white/blank background with one photo per image (if the object is in a series, then the series can be photographed together). 

  • Video, Audio and Performance artworks are accepted. These must be recorded, uploaded to Youtube and made public. Please provide and link to the video in the provided box on the submission form. (Audio works do not need a visual in their video).

  • Text, Creative Writing and Poetry are accepted. These must be uploaded as a PDF, if the structure of the text is important (spacing, pacing and paragraphs) please upload this as a screenshot, crop to the edges of the page with the text readable. Texts more than 1,000 words will not be accepted.

All artworks have the opportunity to be posted on @r_is_n.projects (Instagram), this is optional and you can withdraw later.
What are the selection criteria?
All artwork must either reflect, be inspired by or make reference to the act of 'Staying at Home'. Artwork made during 2020 and early 2021 which does not fit into the exhibition narrative will not be accepted.
